Cousin Bruce Banner lawyer Jennifer Walters was the daughter of Sheriff Morris Walters. Agent Nicholas Trask, a crime boss, whose paths crossed with her father, shot and seriously wounded her when Bruce was in town. Bruce gave her a blood transfusion, as only he could become a donor; because of the radioactive blood mutated Jennifer as it was with her cousin, and became the She-Hulk

Despite the fact that Jennifer first, being in the form of She-Hulk, was wild, she eventually gained the same intelligence that was in her normal human form. For a long time she felt more comfortable in a She-Hulk, rather than in the form of Jennifer Walters. But eventually she realized that she has much to offer the world in both forms. After a brief solo career, she joined the Avengers and temporarily replaces existing in the Fantastic Four.
