One-Shot featuring the Avengers Origin Story for Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver.
--
Exiles due to their Mutant status, siblings Scarlet Witch (Wanda) and Quicksilver (Pietro) are on the run from angry locals looking to burn them alive. The story starts out with them hovering around a fire, something which brings bad memories from a recent escape which took like lives of their parents.
On the run, they meet up with a family looking for assistance around a farm in a small town in Eastern Europe. After a couple weeks, just as Wanda is getting comfortable, their world once again comes crashing down around them. Separated, Pietro came rushing to Wanda's rescue when he sees smoke in the distance, knowing full well this fire was trouble.
Before any blood was shed at the hands of either side, Magneto mysteriously makes his presence known, "rescuing" the two from certain danger to a hideout in the Alps. It is there, Magneto explains that it was "fate" that he happened upon them as part of his mission to seek out and form a mutant army for the apparent ongoing war.
Months later in the newly conquered Republic of Santo Marco, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, led by Magneto is lying in wait, planning for the next battle in the war. While Wanda seems to be getting along with their new lives, Pietro continues to feel unsettled -- especially with his new teammates: Magneto, Toad and Mastermind.
During some detective work, Pietro finds what he believes to be evidence of a relationship between him and Magneto. He barges in on Wanda and Magneto confronting him -- urging him to remove his helmet. Magneto reluctantly removes the helmet to reveal a similarity between the two: silver hair. This also gives Professor X a chance to locate the Brotherhood and send in the X-Men.
After a brief altercation with the X-Men, Pietro and Wanda realize that Magneto is out for blood. Masquerading as "self-defense", Magneto would have had the Brotherhood murder all the X-Men. Pietro was locked up for his wrongdoings and Wanda discusses the fact that she doesn't feel that she could kill with Magneto. Unfortunately, that line of thinking leads her to say the unspeakable to Magneto, eluding to the possibility that, "maybe the X-Men are right!" At that point, Magneto loses it - Wanda attempts to calm him down, but even her ability to call him "Eric" was stripped by his rage over her words.
Enraged, Magneto decides to hunt down the siblings as they narrowly escape.
Later, in New York City, the two decide to make one of the biggest and boldest decisions of their lives - to "try out" for the Avengers. After a few Avenger cameo shots, the whole world knows that Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver have joined one of the most famous super-hero teams on the planet. There is no hiding from Magneto and the Brotherhood now...
